Text / Mark Chehodaiev / Version 6
I’m searching for a language to talk about things that are relevant to me, about the impact the war has had on my perception. To talk about the changes that I experienced though not having a personal, direct experience of war.
My work is an image that refers to a private room in Kyiv where I lived between 2019 and 2021. This space holds a special meaning for me as it embodies my first experience of living independently, away from my parents. I use a three-dimensional modeling program to blend my memories with a digital environment, creating a unique scenography and producing a rendered image. It offers a top-down view and the scene depicts a flood. With this work I aim to explore the tension between memories of daily life in the past and my present sensations.
